Love, Honor and What?
As much as she hated making a scene – and at her own wedding, no less – Morgana Wyley couldn’t let it pass. Her groom had snuck the word “obey” into the vows sometime in between the rehearsal and the wedding. In spite of the fact that she’d always followed the rules, and did what her mother and her fiancé told her to do, Morgana just had to draw the line somewhere. Leaving Willy at the altar, she ran out of the church and into the arms of a late-arriving wedding guest. Only later did Morgana find out that her rescuer was Daniel, Willy’s cousin and life-long rival.
Morgana knew that Willy would be searching for her – she really intended to call him and talk the whole thing out – but she didn’t expect the determination and single-mindedness with which Willy would pursue her, or how ... personally ... he took her defection from the wedding.
This was a great book – it kept me on the edge of my seat all the way through! Morgana is a woman with a self-esteem problem. She’s always taken orders from other people, and, when she finally stands up for herself, she realizes how good it feels. Unfortunately, one independent act does not independence make, and Morgana has a long row to hoe before she comes into her own. She’s lucky that she met Daniel, a loving, supportive man, but their budding relationship is threatened by Willy’s domineering nature, and his and Daniel’s past history.
Such a complex relationship is difficult to depict on paper, but author Nyveld manages it skillfully. Morgana and Daniel seem like real people, with all their faults and foibles, and the reader just can’t help hoping they will work it out together. The sex scenes between this loving couple are sensual and tender. Willy is a really menacing villain, and he scared the socks off me! There are some violent scenes in this book, but they occur in the context of the story and serve to demonstrate the bad guy’s state of mind. I highly recommend this novel for lovers of romantic suspense!
