Immortal Ops 2: Critical Intelligence

Immortal Ops 2: Critical Intelligence is the second installment in the Immortal Ops series. This story features the cocky, self-absorbed, lady’s man, Roi, who also happens to be the second in command for the elite I-Ops team.

Missy is an agent with the Paranormal Security and Intelligence, although that information is not available to her friend regardless of how close they are. She specializes in intelligence retrieval and assassination and is quite successful at both. Thoroughly trained, she is able to assess any situation and act upon her instincts without a second thought. That all changed the night her life was thrown into the midst of a secretive government team of hard bodies.

Roi Majors is working to bring down a covert ring trying to create a race of supernatural beings. Riddled with stress and frustrations due to lack of intel, Roi sets out to release his pent up energy through any means necessary. When he is thrown together with the one woman that resists his charm, he is left struggling between his mind and the animal within.

Roi and Missy have more in common than one might think. Both are more than what meets the eye. When Roi comes to Missy rescue, he finds himself in the midst of the unknown and danger. Although Roi’s job is one filled with danger, he is about to experience something he never has before. Missy leads a life consumed with secrets and must learn to trust someone and except help. Can Roi save Missy in her time of need? Will Roi and Missy learn to understand what is going on around and within them?

Mandy M Roth has created a wonderful follow up story to Immortal Ops with a plot filled with many twists and turns. The characters are both written wonderfully and compliment each other as well as provide readers a sense of compassion and strength. Roi is a head strong Alpha male that has met his match in Missy. If Missy were of the same DNA strand as Roi, she would indeed be an Alpha female. The passion between the two is electrifying and tantalizing. Missy is driven to protect everyone she cares for even at the cost of herself. She is truly a fearless fighter, yet terrified at the thought of loving a man like Roi. Roi and Missy’s display of emotions and passion rewards readers with one smile after another in the midst of danger and intrigue.

I enjoyed this story tremendously. Although, I have read the first story in the Immortal Ops series, this story could very well stand on its own merit. It provided reader with a great deal of background that will instantly draw them in, yet, would not spoil the fun of returning to read the first installment. The chemistry that plays out between Missy and Roi was fun to watch. There is nothing as satisfying as watching a self-proclaimed playboy try to withstand succumbing to a woman half his size. My cheeks are still in pain from the big smile this story provided. Immortal Ops 2: Critical Intelligence is a perfect mix of paranormal and romance that is definitely worth reading more than once. I only hope that there is another story in the works. There are definitely more characters that are just waiting to have their story told. Mandy M. Roth has given readers a beautifully written story and earned 5 Angels in the process!
