The Elixir

As a research scientist, Ben Moore created new medicines for the E.V.E. corporation, and was good at his job. In the past his boss took credit for Ben's work, which, although irritating to Ben, was not a priority in his life. Now it appears that Ben has cracked a genetic code which can lead to priceless medical breakthroughs; exactly the sort of discovery that some people would kill for.

Ben is murdered and his assistant Jake is found standing over the body looking extremely guilty. Everyone, including the seemingly inept police detectives assigned to the case, is eager to pin this one on him. Problem is Jake did not do it, and with the help of Ben's grieving daughter Celeste, he must strike out on his own search for the true killer. Soon it becomes apparent that there is much more to Ben's murder than first suspected. The quest to crack Ben's code and access the formula is soon accompanied by attempts on Jake and Celeste's lives, other bodies turning up along the way and more evidence pilling up pointing to both Jake and Celeste as the killers!

If you're looking for one of those reads where the hero and heroine are running around trying to catch a killer, and staying just one step ahead of danger... look this way! This story sets a brisk pace from page one when the first murder occurs and keeps the readers hustling along throughout the next 200+ pages. The characters are smart and well developed, so it is easy to become involved in what is happening to them and to want to continue along to find out where they will end up. Full of thrills and chills, Lori Soard has a hit on her hands with The Elixir!
