Sundown, Inc: She Who Dares
Have you ever read a book where the heroine is so awesome, you wish you were her? If you haven't, then you need to read Cat Marsters's, Sundown, Inc: She Who Dares, because this heroine is just such a one.
Masika is a vampire who's into tailored leather pants, halters, and heals. She works as a detective for Sundown, Inc. The major majority of their cases deal with the paranormal, or things that don't officially exist. When a dangerous baddie is marked, Masika is called to take out the problem. Thus, when a “Renfield” arrives to request another vamp be put down, her boss assigns her to see to it.
Sekani (Egyptian for “He Who Laughs”) is actually Greek. He's a vampire. His real name is Darien, but he goes by the name of "Dare." Dare is a take-charge-kind-of-guy. Some might call him domineering, but most women would think him a "wanton sex god."
When Masika meets this "wanton sex god," it's all she can do to keep her hands to herself. Dare, too, has difficulty keeping his hands to himself. Before they can get into one another, Masika is called into work. Once there, she discovers that it is Dare she is supposed to destroy. Who, and why does someone want Dare dispatched? Will Masika be able to follow through with Dare's destruction?
Cat Marsters's, Sundown, Inc: She Who Dares, is an awesome read. It is erotic paranormal at its best. There are humorous moments such as the introduction of Magda, and her reason behind not breastfeeding her children, or a nickname such as Mr. Yummy Butt.
Characterizations are so rich a reader can't help but identify with Masika and Dare. Sexual depictions are hot and vivid. Some descriptions draw you in so much that you almost ache, such as when Ms. Marsters describes Dare's voice as "an audible caress, like dark chocolate, silk, hot, deep, breathtaking sex." When I read that particular description, I found myself wishing to hear a masculine voice just like it! (Grin)
Since I enjoyed this recount so much, I'm exceedingly happy to know She Who Dares most probably won't be the only book in the Sundown, Inc. series. I hope to soon hear Cat Marsters plans for the next adventure in this enjoyable series.
