Elphame’s Choice
Have you ever been to a place that calls out to you...a place where you can feel the presence of those who have walked, loved, and existed before you...a place of blood, joy, pain, and hope? Elphame is given such a place as part of her birthright. MacCallan Castle is in ruins, fallen to an enemy’s attack over a century ago, but she plans to change all of that and bring the vitality of new life to this old place.
Being the daughter of the Goddess Incarnate and the Centaur Shaman hasn’t been easy for Elphame; neither has being so obviously marked and chosen by the Goddess. But for what purpose has she been singled out? Can she ever find a mate to complete the uniqueness that is Elphame? What power awaits her in her new home?
Go. Go to the bookstore and buy this one now. I’ll wait here while you do. P.C. Cast is quickly becoming one of my top shelf authors, just for the simple reason that her work is so very fey. She mixest elements of fantasy and paranormal romance like no other author I’ve ever read and does it all with such an otherworldly quality to her writing. Reminiscent of Greek mythology, but with a quiet realism that will stun you, Elphame’s Choice is breathtaking. Elphame is so much more than “just” a woman; she is every woman, with the struggles that every woman faces. She yearns for love, for passion, for the freedom to order her own life, and for fulfillment. She faces danger, betrayal, loss, and the tearing bitterness that comes with shattered dreams. The supporting cast of characters are too numerous to mention, but add depth and life, making this piece virtually sparkle.
Other books by P.C. Cast include Goddess of the Sea, Goddess of Light, and Goddess of Spring. The sequel to Elphame’s Choice is entitled Brighid’s Quest and is slated for release in December of 2005.
