Ivan and the Snow Fairy

Sasha is a Snow Fairy in the mountains of northern Russia. Her function in life is to assist Father Frost in lavishing the colors of winter on the landscape surrounding her. Trees, rivers, hills – they all become covered with the icy beauty of the Snow Fairy’s work. But Sasha senses that something is missing from her life.

Then came the humans, invading her frozen sanctuary. Some brought the stench of their greed and senseless slaughter to her land, while some would take only enough to survive. But none ever stayed – until Ivan. Sasha is increasingly fascinated by Ivan, with his broad shoulders and kind, sad spirit, even as Father Frost warns her of the dangers of becoming too involved with a human.

Ivan has suffered much loss and pain in his life, including the unexplained demise of his beloved wife four years ago, not to mention the resulting gossip from the townsfolk about her mysterious death. Disenchanted with people and their cruelty, he moves away from civilization, hoping to find comfort in solitude. When he beseeches Father Frost for a mate, will he get an answer?

Marianne LaCroix turns up the heat in this wintry narrative about pure love and passion. Ivan and the Snow Fairy is told in the classic fairytale style, and does not disappoint with its lovely, heart-warming ending. Father Frost and Mother Nature make appearances, and give us a glimpse into the hierarchy of the nature gods and goddesses. Well-crafted and lusty, Ivan and the Snow Fairy is light and enchanting, and comes complete with a coolly beautiful snow maiden and a muscled, wounded man.
