Jemma's Heart

Rocker and bad boy Eddie Charles Samuels, called C, is in a pickle. He’s just gotten himself kicked out of his brother’s house (by his vengeful pregnant sister-in-law) and the small town of Jinks, Texas has closed rank on him, leaving him without even a hotel room. So he ends up at Lake County Realty, searching for a house and finding himself oddly attracted to the icy blonde beauty behind the desk. Even odder is the fact that his supposedly devastatingly wicked charm isn’t working on her at all.

Jemma Loveleace is a real estate agent and Sunday school teacher. Out of her element with the dynamic C, she resorts to an icily veiled politeness to cover her discomfiture, but inside, her romantic heart is sighing. She calls him Charles; he calls her pet names. She is prim and proper; he’s a wild child with too many years of experience to count. She’s naive; he’s jaded. They’re complete opposites in every way and the gossip flies when the rumors start that they’re sleeping together.

Jemma’s Heart is the sequel to Lyla’s Song, and continues the tale of the Samuels brothers, with their rock star careers, addictions, and hordes of fans. Author Kay Layton Sisk beautifully crafts the life and times of Smalltown, U.S.A in this spunky and funny story of a man chasing the one woman who won’t have him. Jemma is a delight, a real lady and a woman with a secret, while C is a man who’s done and seen it all, but found it all wanting. A host of supporting characters rounds this piece out nicely, most notably the hilarious Carolynne and the nosy townsfolk.
