The Dreamer

Young William Lander continuously finds himself in a world all to himself … a world of daydreams. William escapes from the daily anguish of his life into his daydreams. His father is an alcoholic and the kids at school bully him constantly, but in William’s daydreams he can be a knight defeating a mighty dragon or the king of a bountiful kingdom. No one understands William. Then, in the middle of his English class, William’s daydream becomes real. William finds himself atop his desk shouting and flailing his arms about as his imagination creates gargoyles for him to fight. This is the last straw. Before William knows what is happening, his principal Mr. Kercher has arranged a meeting with his parents and other faculty. The outcome is dim, as William finds himself slipping into another daydream, only this time his active imagination leads him to a quiet room at Woodland Treatment Center for six months. The thought of being hauled off to the loony bin by guys in white jackets sends William out the door and running for his freedom. William has no where to run, so he darts into the custodian’s office and escapes the clutches of everyone who wants to send him away, even his own mother. Inside, William will find the answers to all his questions by simply stepping through a magical door and becoming the dreamer.

Scott Matheson has written a delightful story where the realms of reality and daydreams are one. The Dreamer is filled with exciting twists and turns that will leave readers of all ages turning the pages in bittersweet anticipation. Why does poor William have these daydreams and how can he make them stop? Is he really The Dreamer? What will he do now that he has accepted his destiny? I thought the story was energetic and kept my attention from the first page. I like how William is able to jump in and out of reality with the slightest whim.

Scott Matheson gives the readers all they need to keep them reading, but at the same time keeps the secrets hidden. The answers can only be found in the pages of The Dreamer by Scott Matheson, so get your copy today and enjoy the adventure.
