Kerri Manley is living an ordinary life when one day while coming out of a restaurant, she is asked to model for a popular plus-size clothing line. Kerri is shocked and it all seems very surreal to her, but she agrees. There’s nothing in Atlanta holding her back and the thought of all the exciting possibilities awaiting her in New York has her thrilled.

Her first night in NYC, Kerri hits the town with her new roommate. At a popular club for celebrities, Kerri meets her celebrity crush, Griffin Davies. She’s not easy by any means, but the thought of spending one night with her crush is yet another amazing opportunity she can’t pass up. But the next day Kerri is leaving for Las Vegas for her first big modeling shoot and she realizes that she never even exchanged names with Griffin. Talk about a one-night stand she won’t forget.

Overnight Sensation is the story of a down to earth, plus size woman making it big in the modeling world. Before Kerri’s very eyes, she turns into a phenomenon! It’s always nice to read stories in where the heroine isn’t a stick thin woman and Kerri shared many concerns that the average woman all over the world faces. But she also longs for love and desire just like every woman, and Christy Gissendaner shows the reader that Kerri isn’t afraid to do whatever it takes to get those things. The main thing that bothered me was Kerri’s diffidence regarding the men in her life. As you read, you’ll see that Kerri has some choices to make, and it seemed like she was wavering for a good part of the book. She’s so confused about her feelings that at times, one has to wonder who exactly the hero of the book is. First it’s Griffin, then it’s Cole. It seemed as if she was leading both of them on. However, by the end, my trust in Kerri had been won over again as she finally made a commitment that was meaningful and true. Griffin isn’t your typical playboy model either; he’s got some interesting sides to him that will definitely help to define his character.

Overall, Overnight Sensation is a fun and fast read that makes the impossible seem more than probable! Ms. Gissendaner creates a fun approach to the modeling world that is not only interesting but very sensuous.
