Polly’s Perilous Pleasures
Polly Patrick has one goal: lose thirty pounds so that she can impress her semi-fiancé when he comes back to the States after his time abroad in England. In order to reach her goal, Polly has hired a trainer, Nick Kokoris, to help her shape up and slim down. The weight loss is going great, even though Polly has had to give up her ultimate pleasure, chocolate, in order to make her goal. It is the problem of Nick that is causing Polly to rue the day her training sessions end. Polly is very attracted to Nick, and despite the fact that she has a boyfriend, and that the Nick has become a good friend, Polly can’t help fantasizing about the hunky Greek.
Nick wants Polly. From the moment he laid eyes on her, his heart was a goner. He hates the fact that he’s helping her lose weight for another man. Nick loves the way Polly looks. She needs no improvements in his eyes, but the chance to spend time with Polly is to enticing to pass up. When she finally reaches her goal, she asks him to help her celebrate. Over dinner and then some after-dinner drinks of ouzo, Polly becomes a bit inebriated and takes their attraction to the next level. Will she regret it when she sobers up or will Polly finally realize that the real prize, Nick, has been underneath her nose the entire time?
Polly’s Perilous Pleasures is a riot to read. Polly is a heroine with a warm and genuine personality that lights up the pages. Her wacky humor, her love of life, and her addiction to chocolate are all things any woman can relate to. Her struggle to lose weight is treated with a normalcy that one doesn’t usually see in romance stories. I really liked how Ms. Dobbs infused Polly’s character with the attributes of the everywoman: the fear of gaining weight, of finding love, of having a successful career. Added to the spice and zest that is Polly is her hero, Nick. He’s a true Greek alpha male and while his sexual prowess is a delight to behold for any lover of erotica, it is his kind spirit and gentle touch with Polly that really endears him to the reader. Polly’s Perilous Pleasures is a story you won’t want to pass up. It’s creative, humorous, sexy and an all around good read that will have you glued to the pages from beginning to end.
