Wade’s Woman
Tara Mason has just moved to the High Country to get away from a bad situation at home. She’s a nurse and has recently been hired by Dr. Ryan Wade. However, upon meeting her, Ryan wants her gone. She’s way too attractive to be living in his house. He lives in a small town and he can already hear the rumors flying. But Tara is adamant. She needs the job and she needs to stay hidden from her stepbrother and stepmother. Ryan reluctantly agrees to let the attractive woman stay. The situation gets more complicated however when Ryan’s ex-wife sues him for custody of their two children. She plans on saying that Ryan is having an affair with Tara. Ryan is weary of the situation and is searching for a solution when he proposes to Tara.
Needless to say, Tara is shocked! She can’t marry Ryan. Though Ryan seems fine with her decision to not marry him, Tara can’t put the idea out of her head. She enjoys working for him, watching his children, and spending time with the many home bound patients that are part of her work. When Ryan asks her again, Tara can’t say no. She wants to be Ryan’s wife and she wants to be part of his small family. But can she trust that he will never cheat on her, despite the rumors about town that he is always having affairs? Will Ryan ever discover the secrets Tara is hiding from him? You’ll just have to read to find out these answers.
Wade’s Woman reads a bit like a Harlequin romance, which isn’t a bad thing. This is a character driven story, with the plot conflicts kept to a minimum to allow the characters time to get to know each other and to fall in love. Tara and Ryan each have their own heartaches to deal with, but as they get to know each other, they are able to let some of those individual burdens go, sharing the problems with each other. Tara and Ryan both work hard at their jobs, a fact which creates very realistic personas for the characters. Their love story is strong and true and will most definitely touch the heart. Christina Carlisle pens a fine tale which features characters readers will be happy to see connect and fall happily in love.
