Miss December

In the future, men and women are perfect beings created in labs – there is no lust or sex. When the perfect experiment goes awry, people must identify with that side of themselves. Hardin is very good at his job. His job requires him to help women realize the passion that is within before they meet their life mate. His December job may take a little more effort. Hardin is immediately affected by her beauty and must struggle to keep his feelings at bay. Hardin fears that once he has helped Miss December he may not be able to let her go.

Kansas is shocked when she awakens to find herself tied to a bed. She does not believe that the man beside the bed will harm her, but she does want to leave this place. When Hardin informs her of her purpose for being there, she is amazed. Since Kansas is an anomaly – she is too big and tall – most would not find her desirable under any circumstances. Her physical reaction to Hardin allows her to see just how powerful lust and desire are. And Kansas’ emotional reaction shows her just how quickly one can fall in love.

Miss December is a charming book that has just enough twists to spark the reader’s imagination. Miss Hayes has created a modern world that does not seem so far in the future. Both Hardin and Kansas are pawns in the game of love but are the ultimate winners. The emotional bond that connects them balances the physical connection between the two. I enjoyed how the author showed that love comes when we least expect it.
